The biggest obstacle to creating successful and satisfying open relationships is jealousy. Jealousy is scary. People feel jealous when they experience the unpleasant suspicion that their man or woman is being unfaithful. People suspect the presence of a rival and fear losing out. Our stomach moves in waves and we can’t breathe. Our head feels like it will burst open. Our heart pounds in our throat and we can't talk.

The second part of the skill is learning to reflect back what you heard the person saying. Paraphrasing and repeating back what you heard allows the person to know you have been listening. It keeps clarity in conversation and allows for overall better communication. This is also a skill that requires some practice. Here are a few tips.
Whether you are in contact with your children, boss, husband, wife or significant others,
these tools are valuable. For the next week or so try to exercise these new skills. Observe what happens when you listen and respond in an empathic manner instead of with advice, opinion or judgments. Make a note of the new interaction and compare it with your old way of listening or not listening. Observe their manner- are they calmer, more appreciative? What do you notice?
We all have a need to be listened to and understood. Most of us grew up with not enough of the focused attention we need. As a result we are all a little deprived, that is why so many of us want to talk and talk and talk. Listening is something that we just don't know how to do. In fact, we are uncomfortable with being quiet and still.
I suggest to you that if you practice, you will benefit in many ways. All of your relationships will dramatically improve. You will find that you will gain a greater ability to listen to yourself and you may find that others more readily give you time and attention. What we need from others we must be willing to give to them as well. Be patient, praise yourself for your efforts (don't wait for others to praise you), and watch your skill grow.

10 Ways To Keep Love Alive In A Busy Schedule
Life is what happens when you're not looking, right? Keep your love alive even while coping with the busiest of schedules by picking up a few good habits, making the most of the time you have together.
Don't leave home without it! Kiss your partner before leaving home. Add a hug while you're at it! Two minutes that start your day off right. And, don't forget to kiss them when you come home!
Keep that date! If you don't have a regular date night every week, create one. Don't lose your identity as a couple.
Conserve energy. Shower together and save water. Plus, this is even better than looking in a mirror for keeping those unwanted pounds off.
Give each other a break. When you come home, give each other 30 minutes to unwind quietly and leave work behind.
Return to the table. Eat dinner at the table without TV as a distraction. Play soft music, and really enjoy dinner together.
Don't let chores get in the way. Try to break up chores so you don't end up trying to do everything on the weekend.
Wanna do lunch? Have lunch together once a week. Especially if you have children, this will provide time together without interuptions. On days you can't lunch together, use this time to get some of your errands done.
Prepare the night before. Do you start your day stressed out trying to find clothes that are pressed, getting your family's gear together, etc? Lay out as much as you can the night before so you can actually enjoy breakfast with your partner and family.
Happy Hour. Meet your partner for happy hour instead of driving home in the middle of rush hour. Enjoy this "mini" date.
Don't be a slave to the kitchen. If you are a two-career couple, eat your heavier, more traditional meal at lunch, and eat light at dinner. Not only will this be healthier for you, but it will save you time cooking and cleaning, so you can spend more time doing things you both enjoy.
